The Shannara Chronicles
CreatorAlfred Gough, Miles Millar
Adapted from Terry Brooks' fantasy novels, this MTV series strands the Four Lands on the edge of an ancient Demon invasion after centuries of uneasy peace. Wil Ohmsford (Austin Butler), a young Healer with untested magic, is thrown together with the runaway Elf princess Amberle (Ivana Baquero) and the brooding druid Allanon (Manu Bennett) on a quest to save the enchanted Ellcrys tree before the Forbidding collapses. Bright, CW-adjacent visuals and a young cast give the show a YA sheen, but the mythology underneath is genuinely dense, drawing on decades of Brooks' lore. It only ran two seasons, yet remains a formative credit for a pre-stardom Austin Butler.
