Abandoned as a child by his parents, Peter Parker grows up with his aunt and uncle, Ben and May, while carrying unanswered questions about his origins. The discovery of his father's old briefcase leads him to Oscorp and the laboratory of Dr. Curt Connors, a former family associate, where a modified spider endows him with astonishing abilities. When Connors's experiments transform him into the monstrous Lizard, Peter must embrace his new identity as Spider-Man and confront the cost of being a hero. Marc Webb reboots the web-slinger saga with a more intimate, teenage tone, centered on the mystery of Peter's parents and his romance with Gwen Stacy.
