Ben Affleck stars as a brilliant reverse-engineer who has his memory of classified projects wiped after each job, only to discover — after his latest assignment — that he forfeited a massive payday for a mysterious envelope of seemingly random objects that hold the key to a conspiracy only his erased self understood. Director John Woo, adapting a Philip K. Dick story, brings his signature balletic gunplay and motorcycle chases to the sci-fi premise, alongside Uma Thurman as Affleck's love interest and scientific collaborator. The puzzle-box structure lets Affleck's character solve his own mystery piece by piece using clues his past self left behind. It's slick, hardware-heavy studio sci-fi from the Minority Report era of Dick adaptations.
