The Angels — Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore and Lucy Liu — return for a louder, glossier sequel centered on a stolen pair of witness-protection rings, sending the trio through dirt-bike chases, Mongolian monasteries and a Vegas strip club in pursuit of a rogue former Angel. Director McG abandons narrative coherence almost entirely in favor of nonstop stunt spectacle and music-video editing, treating plot as a scaffold for set pieces. Critically drubbed even more harshly than its predecessor, it nonetheless remains a defining artifact of glossy, maximalist early-2000s action comedy.
