Richard Schiff
Actor · Since 1989
Known for
Richard Schiff perfected the art of the weary conscience. Born in Bethesda, Maryland, in 1955, he spent years directing theater and playing bit parts, including 'Se7en' (1995) and the doomed engineer Eddie Carr in 'The Lost World: Jurassic Park' (1997), before Aaron Sorkin handed him the role of a lifetime: Toby Ziegler, the brooding communications director of 'The West Wing' (1999-2006), which won him an Emmy. Film kept him busy with 'Man of Steel' (2013), while 'The Good Doctor' (2017-2024) gave him another long-run signature part as Dr. Aaron Glassman. Nobody on screen sighs with more moral weight.
