Adrian Monk was once San Francisco's most brilliant detective, until the unsolved murder of his wife Trudy shattered him and unleashed a crippling obsessive-compulsive disorder and a phobia for nearly everything. Now a private consultant to the police, he solves the department's most baffling homicides by noticing the tiny inconsistencies everyone else overlooks, even as his own compulsions make daily life a gauntlet. Paired with a patient assistant who helps him function in the world, Monk turns his afflictions into an unlikely investigative gift. Tony Shalhoub anchors the beloved mystery with a performance that is by turns comic, poignant, and quietly heartbreaking.
