Resurrected by the eccentric surgeon Godwin Baxter, who has implanted the brain of a baby into the body of a grown woman, Bella Baxter discovers the world with a voracious curiosity and without the moral corset of her era. When she runs off with a libertine, womanizing lawyer on a delirious journey through Lisbon, a cruise, Alexandria and the brothels of Paris, she matures in leaps toward freedom, pleasure and social conscience. Her emancipation defies everything Victorian society expects of her. Yorgos Lanthimos crafts an overflowing visual fable, between the grotesque and the tender, with an Emma Stone in a lavish, unbridled performance.
