In the sun-drenched, designer-clad world of Beverly Hills, popular and impossibly self-assured teenager Cher fancies herself a master matchmaker, engineering romances for her teachers and giving a frumpy new girl a total makeover. But her meddling backfires and her tidy worldview unravels as she slowly realizes she has no idea what she truly wants, or whom she loves. Amy Heckerling reworks Jane Austen's Emma into a razor-sharp comedy of manners, its quotable slang and candy-colored satire capturing nineties youth culture so perfectly that it became an era-defining touchstone.
