Television is the family business for Dirk Blocker: born in Hollywood in 1957, he is the son of Dan Blocker, the beloved Hoss of 'Bonanza'. After decades of guest work on shows from 'Little House on the Prairie' (1974) to 'The X-Files', plus film roles in 'Poltergeist' (1982) and John Carpenter's 'Prince of Darkness' (1987), he found late-career fame as Michael Hitchcock, one half of the gloriously lazy detective duo of 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' (2013-2021). Amiable, rumpled and impeccably deadpan, he turned a background-desk joke into one of the sitcom's most reliable laughs.
