Born in St. Louis in 1944, David Rasche worked steadily on New York stages before finding a wide audience as the perpetually self-satisfied cop of the satirical series Sledge Hammer! (1986-1988). Since then he has become one of American cinema s reliable comic character men, memorable in Woody Allen s Zelig (1983), Adam McKay s Vice (2018) and, in a very different key, as the disquieted CIA superior in Burn After Reading (2008). More recently he became widely recognised as Karl Muller in HBO s Succession (2018-2023). Rasche is regarded as a dependable master of the deadpan corporate voice.
