Stephen Merchant

Born in Bristol in 1974, the six-foot-seven writer-director gradually became a screen presence in his own right: the tragic mutant tracker Caliban in 'Logan' (2017), a gleefully awful Gestapo officer in 'Jojo Rabbit' (2019), and writer-director of the wrestling comedy 'Fighting with My Family' (2019). He also created and stars in the crime comedy 'The Outlaws' (2021). Self-deprecating awkwardness, deployed with surgical timing, is his signature.
