In a prehistoric world outfitted with all the trappings of modern suburbia, the Sinclairs are a working-class family of dinosaurs juggling jobs, marriage, and rebellious kids much like any 1990s household. Gruff tree-pusher Earl and his patient wife Fran raise their brood alongside a wisecracking, TV-obsessed Baby who bops his father with a frying pan and steals every scene. Beneath the animatronic Jim Henson creature effects and sitcom hijinks, the show slips in sly satire of consumerism, corporate greed, and environmental ruin. Ambitious and unexpectedly biting, it wraps social commentary in the guise of a family comedy, building toward one of television's most audacious finales.
