Software engineer Lily Chan, played by Sonoya Mizuno, suspects her boyfriend's supposed suicide at their Silicon Valley employer Amaya was actually murder, and her search for answers pulls her toward Devs, a secretive division sealed off from the rest of the company. Nick Offerman, cast sharply against type, plays Amaya's messianic founder Forest, whose quiet obsession with the project reveals ambitions far stranger than corporate espionage, aided by Jin Ha's conflicted programmer and Cailee Spaeny's watchful colleague. Alex Garland shoots Silicon Valley like a cathedral, letting gleaming architecture and a droning score carry as much dread as the plot itself. It's a slow-burn meditation on determinism and grief dressed as a tech thriller.
