Boy Meets World follows Cory Matthews from gawky middle-schooler to married adult, using his Philadelphia childhood as a low-key vehicle for old-fashioned life lessons delivered with real warmth rather than saccharine moralizing. Ben Savage anchors the show alongside Rider Strong's loyal best friend Shawn and Danielle Fishel's Topanga, the free-spirited girl next door who becomes Cory's lifelong love. William Daniels' Mr. Feeny, teacher-turned-neighbor-turned-conscience, gives the series its most enduring device, a mentor who never quite stops teaching. What starts as broad '90s sitcom fare matures alongside its characters into something unexpectedly tender about growing up in public.
