3rd Rock from the Sun
“There's a new family in town. They're not from another city... They're from another planet.”
CreatorTerry Turner, Bonnie Turner
3rd Rock from the Sun sends a team of aliens to study Earth's least-significant life form — humanity — and drops them into human bodies as the eccentric Solomon family, led by John Lithgow's blustery High Commander Dick, now a bumbling college professor. Kristen Johnston's aloof Sally and French Stewart's dim Harry navigate gender, romance and small-town Ohio with delighted confusion, while Joseph Gordon-Levitt's Tommy is aggravated to find himself trapped in a teenager's body despite technically being the group's eldest. Jane Curtin's exasperated love interest Mary Albright gives the alien chaos a human anchor. It's high-concept sitcom silliness played with total, committed sincerity.
