Robert Vaughn

Born in New York City in 1932, Robert Vaughn earned an Oscar nomination for The Young Philadelphians (1959) and became a household name as Napoleon Solo in The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (1964-1968). He played Walter Chalmers in Bullitt (1968) and the doomed lawyer in Steve McQueen's Magnificent Seven (1960). He turned to bigger-tent studio work with The Towering Inferno (1974) and Superman III (1983). A late-career highlight came as Albert Stroller in the BBC caper series Hustle (2004-2012). He died in 2016.

Robert Francis Vaughn, Ph.D. (November 22, 1932 – November 11, 2016) was an American actor noted for stage, film and television work. He was, perhaps, best known as suave spy Napoleon Solo in the 1960s television series, "The Man from U.N.C.L.E.," and as Albert Stroller in the BBC One series, "Hustle."
