Andrew Davis's 'Under Siege' is a sleek 'Die Hard'-on-a-battleship action vehicle and arguably Steven Seagal's best film, casting him as a former SEAL working as a ship's cook who single-handedly foils mercenaries seizing a nuclear-armed U.S. Navy vessel. Tommy Lee Jones and Gary Busey chew scenery as the villains. Tight, propulsive and well-directed, it gave Seagal his biggest hit and a genuine box-office triumph. Among 1990s action fare, it remains a reliably entertaining and efficiently staged crowd-pleaser.
