A German fantasy film adapted from Kerstin Gier's popular young-adult novel, 'Ruby Red' follows a London teenager who discovers she has inherited a family time-travel gene, thrusting her into a centuries-old secret society and a mystery involving a mysterious chronograph. Blending romance, adventure and period hopping, it was a sizable hit in Germany and spawned sequels. Aimed at teen readers of the trilogy, it earned modest reviews and limited exposure in the English-speaking world despite its source's popularity.
