Robert Rodriguez's half of the 'Grindhouse' double feature follows go-go dancer Cherry Darling, played by Rose McGowan, whose leg is replaced with a makeshift machine-gun prosthetic as she and an ensemble of small-town Texans fight off a horde of grotesquely mutated, flesh-craving townspeople. Deliberately mimicking scratched film stock, missing reels, and cheap exploitation-era aesthetics, the film is a loving pastiche of 1970s zombie and splatter cinema pushed to gleeful extremes. Its cult reputation has only grown since its underwhelming theatrical release as part of the underperforming 'Grindhouse' package.
