Robert Rodriguez expands his own fake 'Grindhouse' trailer into a full feature, packed with grimy exploitation-movie excess, gallows humor, and a starry supporting cast including Robert De Niro, Jessica Alba, and Michelle Rodriguez. The film revels unapologetically in its B-movie roots while sneaking in pointed commentary on immigration politics. It gave Trejo his most iconic starring role after decades as Hollywood's favorite tough-guy character actor.
