Will Ferrell plays a wealthy hedge-fund manager sentenced to hard prison time on fraud charges who, terrified of surviving behind bars, hires the Black car-wash owner in his building's parking garage, played by Kevin Hart, to 'prepare' him for prison — wrongly assuming Hart's character has criminal experience of his own. Etan Cohen's comedy mines its premise for both raunchy set pieces and pointed commentary on class and racial assumption. Reviews were mixed on its handling of that material, but Ferrell and Hart's pairing made it a commercial success.
