Born in Paris into a family of theater, Julie Delpy is a French American actress, director, and screenwriter who represents like few others the bridge between European cinema and American independent film. Her face became inseparable from Richard Linklater's 'Before' trilogy —'Before Sunrise', 'Before Sunset', and 'Before Midnight'— in which she also co-wrote the scripts alongside Ethan Hawke, portraying love across two decades of conversation. Earlier she had already worked with masters like Jean-Luc Godard, Agnès Varda, and Krzysztof Kieślowski, for whom she starred in 'Three Colors: White'. Trained in film at New York University, she made the leap to directing with titles like '2 Days in Paris', where she combines neurotic comedy and an intimate gaze. Her register mixes irony, tenderness, and verbal intelligence, with talkative and disarmingly human characters.
