James Cameron

James Cameron is a Canadian director born in Kapuskasing, Ontario, responsible for two of the highest-grossing films in cinema history and among the most technically ambitious filmmakers of his generation. The Terminator and Aliens established his reputation for combining relentless action with strong female protagonists, while Terminator 2: Judgment Day pushed computer-generated visual effects into a new era with its liquid-metal antagonist. Titanic, an epic romance built around the real 1912 disaster, became the first film to gross over a billion dollars worldwide and won eleven Academy Awards, a record he later matched with Avatar, whose pioneering 3D and motion-capture technology reshaped blockbuster production. Cameron's willingness to invent new filmmaking technology to serve his ambitions, from underwater cinematography to performance-capture systems, has made him one of the most technically transformative directors in Hollywood history.
