Known for
With a rugged face and street-level truth, Harvey Keitel is one of the great performers to emerge from New Hollywood. Born in Brooklyn in 1939, he was a favorite of the early Martin Scorsese in 'Mean Streets' and 'Taxi Driver', and returned to the front line thanks to Quentin Tarantino as Mr. White in 'Reservoir Dogs' and the decisive Wolf in 'Pulp Fiction'. His career includes memorable work such as the tormented cop of 'Bad Lieutenant' and his role in Jane Campion's 'The Piano'. Trained in the method of the Actors Studio, Keitel imbues his characters with a physical rawness and an emotional honesty that rarely court the audience's sympathy.
