Harold Ramis

Harold Ramis, born in Chicago in 1944, was one of the defining comic voices of American cinema between the seventies and the nineties. As co-writer he shaped the anarchic tone of National Lampoon's Animal House (1978), Caddyshack (1980) and Ghostbusters (1984), also playing the deadpan Egon Spengler on screen. As director he delivered the beloved Groundhog Day (1993) and the mob comedy Analyze This (1999), consistently finding warmth inside sharp jokes. A former editor at the National Lampoon and an alumnus of Second City, he mentored a generation of American comedy writers before his death in 2014.
