Mary-Louise Parker plays Nancy Botwin, a newly widowed suburban mom in the fictional Agrestic, California, who starts dealing marijuana to keep her family's lifestyle intact after her husband's sudden death. What begins as a desperate stopgap spirals into an increasingly dangerous double life, dragging her sons, played by Hunter Parrish and Alexander Gould, and her exasperated brother-in-law Andy, played by Justin Kirk, deeper into a world of cartels, corrupt cops, and moral compromise. Creator Jenji Kohan uses the premise to needle suburban hypocrisy long before she made 'Orange Is the New Black'. Dark, propulsive, and unapologetically cynical, 'Weeds' turns the American dream into the family business.
