In the flooded, storm-battered ruins of Gotham, the death of crime boss Carmine Falcone leaves a vacuum of power, and Oswald Cobb, the limping, scheming middle manager everyone underestimates, sees his moment. Charming and monstrous in equal measure, Oz claws upward through the city's fractured underworld while dragging along a streetwise kid he takes under his wing and fending off Falcone's brilliant, vengeful daughter Sofia. Grimy, operatic, and steeped in the fatalism of a great gangster saga, the series trades capes for a portrait of raw ambition and the lies a man tells to justify becoming a monster. It is the origin of a villain told as tragedy, where every promise Oz makes to his mother costs someone else everything.
