The Tudors

The Tudors

“It's Good to Be King.”
7.8 /10 (848) 2007–2010
Drama Romance
Creator Michael Hirst
Screenplay Michael Hirst
The Tudors traces Henry VIII from vigorous young king to increasingly ruthless monarch, using his shifting queens and courtiers as the barometer for a reign defined by appetite — for power, for pleasure, for religious upheaval that would remake England. Jonathan Rhys Meyers plays Henry with matinee-idol swagger curdling slowly into paranoia and cruelty, while Sarah Bolger's Princess Mary and Henry Cavill's ambitious Charles Brandon orbit a court where loyalty is never safe for long. Max Brown and David O'Hara round out a Tudor court thick with scheming, seduction, and sudden reversals of fortune. Lavishly produced and unabashedly soapy, it treats English history as a costume drama with real teeth.
