At a United States research station in Antarctica, a group of scientists cut off from the world encounters an alien organism able to perfectly imitate any living being it assimilates. As the creature infects the dog and then the men, no one can tell who is still human and who is already a perfect replica, and paranoia becomes as lethal as the monster itself. With deadly temperatures outside and an undetectable enemy within, the group disintegrates into distrust and terror.
