In a dystopian 1970s America ruled by an authoritarian regime, fifty teenage boys volunteer for a macabre annual televised contest: to walk without rest while maintaining a minimum speed. Anyone who drops below the pace receives three warnings and, on the fourth, is executed on the spot by the soldiers escorting the march. There is no finish line, only a single survivor, and as the walk stretches on for days, friendships, confidences and a solidarity as moving as it is futile arise in the face of the inevitable. An adaptation of the Stephen King novel written as Richard Bachman. A brutal, desolate survival story about endurance, youth and the cruelty of spectacle.
