The starry ensemble also includes Brad Pitt as a prosecutor secretly complicit in the plot and Dustin Hoffman as a sympathetic lawyer. The film's blend of gritty street-crime drama and courtroom thriller was met with skepticism over the memoir's disputed factual basis, but it remains a well-acted, emotionally charged piece of '90s prestige filmmaking.
