Blu is a blue Spix's macaw who was captured as a chick by smugglers and grew up in peaceful Minnesota alongside Linda, his devoted owner, never having learned to fly. When he turns out to be the last male of his species, he travels to Rio de Janeiro to mate with Jewel, the only remaining female, a fiery, freedom-loving bird. When the two are kidnapped by animal traffickers, the pampered, citified Blu must throw himself into an adventure across the city during Carnival to win back his freedom and finally learn to fly. A vibrant, musical animated comedy soaked in color and Brazilian rhythm.
