In the final days of April 1945, as Soviet artillery pounds Berlin to rubble, Adolf Hitler retreats into his fortified bunker surrounded by a shrinking circle of generals, secretaries and true believers. Through the eyes of his young stenographer, the regime's last hours unfold in a claustrophobic descent of delusion, suicide and collapse. Oliver Hirschbiegel refuses easy caricature, letting Bruno Ganz deliver a chillingly human Führer amid the moral rot of those clinging to him. Rigorous, unsettling and morally serious, this German drama stares directly into the abyss of a dying dictatorship without a shred of comfort.
