Born in Mie in 1964, Kippei Shiina is a Japanese actor whose stoic demeanor made him a familiar face of Japanese crime drama and jidaigeki. After breaking through in Takashi Miike's yakuza films of the late 1990s, he built a solid film résumé that includes Rainy Dog (1997) and Kikujiro (1999). He is widely recognized to television audiences for his long run in the Aibou detective franchise, and for numerous NHK period dramas.
