Actor
89 years (Jun 6, 1920 – Jun 29, 2009)Volyně, Czechoslovakia
Long careers are rarer than they look, and Jan Rubeš has become a familiar face whose career has outlived most of the formats it was recorded on. The bulk of the career has been spent in drama. Steady employment, rather than one breakout, gives the career its shape. Eli Lapp in 'Witness' is the role that outgrew the rest. 'D2: The Mighty Ducks' is another title that gets mentioned.

Rubes went on to join the Prague Opera House as their youngest basso singer. He also performed at the Pilsen Opera House in leading roles in his early years. By 1948, he was chosen to represent Czechoslovakia at the International Music Festival held in Geneva and won first prize in his category. He emigrated to Canada on New Year's Eve 1948 with hopes of creating a greater musical career. As well, he served as the company's director of touring and program development.
