David Wain

David Wain, born in Shaker Heights, Ohio in 1969, is an American comedy writer, director and performer who came out of the anarchic sketch group The State. He co-created the cult sketch series Stella and, most importantly, wrote and directed the cult camp comedy Wet Hot American Summer (2001), later expanded into two Netflix seasons. He also directed Role Models (2008), Wanderlust (2012) and They Came Together (2014), and appears in his own films as a recurring on-screen presence. Wain is one of the defining voices of the deadpan, absurdist strain of modern American screen comedy.
