Albert Finney

Albert Finney was an English actor of robust temperament and colossal talent, trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and a star of the new British cinema. He rose to fame as a young working-class rebel in 'Saturday Night and Sunday Morning' and swept audiences with the title role of 'Tom Jones', which earned him his first Oscar nomination. Over his career he played Hercule Poirot in 'Murder on the Orient Express', the decadent actor of 'The Dresser', and the alcoholic consul of 'Under the Volcano', totaling five Academy nominations. As a veteran he shone in 'Erin Brockovich', 'Big Fish', and the Bond saga with 'Skyfall'. Averse to the trappings of stardom, he always maintained an earthy intensity and an unmistakable physical commitment.
