从前有一只虫子叫做赌虫（梅尔·布兰科 Mel Blanc 配音），凡是被它咬过之后就会赌瘾大发，非赌不可。它周游世界各个角落，害人不浅，令许多人深陷赌局不能自拔。在一个晴朗的日子里，赌虫去郊外闲逛，偏巧看到了一条想好好耍一把钱的牛头犬（梅尔·布兰科 Mel Blanc 配音）和决意不参与这种骗人把戏的黑猫（梅尔·布兰科 Mel Blanc 配音）。赌虫怎么会让那么无聊的事情发生呢？它趁黑猫不注意咬了对方一口，结果黑猫赌瘾大发，急吼吼地催促大狗和他赌上一把。
对于这个完全没有赌博经验的家伙来说，自然轻松地调入对方设下的圈套之中，于是乎不得不遭受各种各样残酷的惩罚。但即便如此，黑猫依然不吸取教训
