Whatever else has changed around him, Xavier Maly has remained a working actor whose accumulated screen time beats that of most leading names. Neither the cinema nor the television half of the career can be called the side project. 'Asterix & Obelix: Mission Cleopatra' remains the reference point, thanks largely to Laconic legionary 2. 'A Very Long Engagement' is a second title with real reach. The early stretch of the career is the part least seen today. The filmography leans toward drama.
