A New Jersey high school girls' soccer team survives a plane crash deep in the Canadian wilderness, and 'Yellowjackets' splits its story between their brutal, slowly unraveling fight to stay alive and the fractured adults — played by Melanie Lynskey and Tawny Cypress — who emerge nearly twenty-five years later. Sophie Nélisse and Sophie Thatcher play the teenage versions of characters whose adult selves are visibly, permanently marked by whatever happened out there, while Jasmin Savoy Brown's Taissa carries a political career threatened by secrets from that winter. The dual timeline lets the show function simultaneously as survival horror, psychological thriller, and a dark parody of prestige nostalgia shows about girlhood. It's less about what happened in the woods than about what never really left.
