Derek Mio leads the second season as a young man confronting a vengeful spirit while his community endures forced relocation, with Naoko Mori and Kiki Sukezane deepening the show's ghost-story mechanics with generational trauma. Creators David Kajganich, Max Borenstein and Alexander Woo use horror less as spectacle than as a lens on historical atrocity, letting dread accumulate slowly rather than relying on jump scares. It's prestige horror that treats its historical settings with real gravity.
