Alan Tudyk plays Harry Vanderspeigle, an extraterrestrial whose crash-landing mission goes sideways when he assumes the identity of a small-town Colorado doctor and finds himself, against every instinct, actually caring about the people around him. His disguise gets tested almost immediately when he's dragged into investigating a local murder, forcing Harry to fake human decency while quietly wrestling with orders to wipe out the species he's studying. Sara Tomko's Asta and Corey Reynolds's Sheriff Mike Thompson become the unwitting proof that Harry's mission and his growing conscience can't coexist forever. Equal parts murder mystery and fish-out-of-water comedy, 'Resident Alien' finds real warmth in an invader slowly, reluctantly, becoming one of us.
