In the Ssangmun-dong neighborhood of Seoul in 1988, five families live in the same alley, and five teenage friends grow up in and out of each other's kitchens. 'Reply 1988', the third and most beloved of tvN's 'Reply' series, trades the earlier installments' mystery-romance framing for a warm ensemble portrait of ordinary life in the year of the Seoul Olympics, anchored by Lee Hye-ri as Deok-sun and Park Bo-gum as the baduk prodigy Choi Taek. On its 2015-2016 run it became one of the highest-rated dramas in Korean cable history, and it remains a touchstone of nostalgic K-drama.
