Looking
“Find something real.”
CreatorMichael Lannan
Three gay friends navigate work, dating and their thirties in San Francisco: video game designer Patrick (Jonathan Groff), aspiring artist Agustín (Frankie J. Alvarez) and restaurant worker Dom (Murray Bartlett). Created by Michael Lannan with director Andrew Haigh setting the tone, the HBO series traded sitcom brightness for handheld naturalism and long, awkward conversations. Critics defended it while ratings stayed modest, and HBO cancelled it after two seasons in 2015, commissioning the feature-length 'Looking: The Movie' to close the story out the following year.
