Corporate negotiator Sam Nelson, played by Idris Elba with coiled, watchful calm, is midflight from Dubai to London when armed hijackers seize control of the cabin, forcing him to talk his way through a crisis using every trick of his profession rather than force. The series unfolds in something close to real time, cutting between the terrified cabin, ground-level investigators including Christine Adams, and a wider conspiracy the hijackers are serving that reaches well beyond the plane. Clare-Hope Ashitey and Lisa Vicari round out a cast caught between panic and improvised courage at 30,000 feet. It's a pressure-cooker thriller that trusts patient, procedural tension over spectacle to keep viewers pinned to their seats.
