Ryan Murphy's FX anthology 'Feud' dramatizes legendary rivalries, one per season. The first, 'Bette and Joan' (2017), stars Susan Sarandon as Bette Davis and Jessica Lange as Joan Crawford during the making of 'What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?', showing how Hollywood's contempt for aging women fed a hatred the studios happily stoked. The second, 'Capote vs. The Swans' (2024), follows Truman Capote's betrayal of the Manhattan society women who confided in him, led by Naomi Watts as Babe Paley. Both seasons drew heavy Emmy attention for their casts.

In the season finale, Joan accepts a leading role on a new film despite her deteriorating health. Faced with a new rival, Bette reflects on her misplaced feud with Joan.
