Doctor Who

DramaAction & AdventureSci-Fi & Fantasy
CreatorSydney Newman, C. E. Webber
Since 1963, 'Doctor Who' has followed the Doctor, a centuries-old Time Lord who travels through time and space in the TARDIS, a ship disguised — thanks to a broken chameleon circuit — as an ordinary blue police box. Each time the Doctor is mortally wounded, the character regenerates into an entirely new face and personality, a device that let the show reinvent itself across generations of actors, from Sylvester McCoy's whimsical seventh Doctor to his eventual successors. Alongside a revolving cast of human companions, including Sophie Aldred's sharp, streetwise Ace, the Doctor confronts alien threats while trying to nudge history back toward decency. Few series have matched its blend of childlike wonder and genuinely strange science fiction.
