Rory McCann
Actor · Since 2003
Known for
Standing well over six feet, Glasgow-born Rory McCann spent years in Scottish television and supporting film parts — the lovelorn giant of 'Hot Fuzz' (2007) among them — before finding the role of his life: Sandor 'The Hound' Clegane, the scarred, growling warrior of 'Game of Thrones' (2011-2019), whose bitter humanity made him a fan favorite. Born in 1969, McCann has since played villains in 'xXx: Return of Xander Cage' (2017) and 'Jumanji: The Next Level' (2019), appeared in the western 'Slow West' (2015) and joined 'Gladiator II' (2024). Gruff exteriors hiding battered decency are his specialty.
