Pankaj Tripathi, born in Belsand, Bihar, in 1976, is one of the defining Indian character actors of the streaming era. He first drew wide attention as the menacing butcher Sultan Qureshi in Anurag Kashyap's Gangs of Wasseypur (2012). He carried Amit V. Masurkar's Newton (2017) as an election-day CRPF officer and joined the horror hit Stree (2018). On streaming he became Kaleen Bhaiya in Mirzapur (2018) and appeared in Sacred Games (2018), before winning the National Award for the courtroom comedy OMG 2 (2023).
