Ned Fleming, a protective father and owner of a modest Michigan printing shop, travels with his family to California to spend Christmas with his daughter Stephanie, a college student. There he discovers that the young woman is dating Laird Mayhew, an eccentric, billionaire video-game creator, as crude and uninhibited as he is incapable of filtering what he says. When Laird confesses that he plans to propose to Stephanie, Ned launches a covert war to stop him, even as the culture clash between the two spirals into one disaster after another. A generational comedy of errors, crude and unfiltered, about the vertigo of a father who fears losing his daughter.
